A Really Great Gift
Tatcha’s Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is incredibly effective at removing makeup. It’s also highly nourishing and gentle for the skin. My sister bought me a Tatcha gift set, which included a deluxe sample size of the oil. I’d heard a lot about it when the brand first burst onto the beauty scene a couple of years ago. Skincare articles about oil cleansing (and yes, that’s still a thing) often raved about Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil, highlighting its performance and benefits. And the set makes a fantastic gift.
But I often go barefaced, so I don’t get to try out many different make-up removers. At most I’ll wear some lipstick and a couple dabs of concealer. However, as you can imagine or have experienced for yourself, removing a face full of richly pigmented carnival colors takes a bit of work. This is particularly true if you’re tackling makeup formulated for its staying power. Finding a makeup remover that won’t irritate your skin is a major score. Bonus points if it removes makeup quickly and thoroughly. The last thing you’ll want to do at the end of a long day on the road is put up a struggle to remove your war paint.
But I had completely forgotten I had the Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil. And once I found it, I didn’t have a reason to use it. Until recently.
Trying it Out For the First Time
I went to a family dinner a couple of weeks ago and wore some eyeliner and mascara that night. The next morning, I gently worked the silky liquid all over my face and throat, while delicately tending to my lashes and eyelids. I must say, the oil was not as fragrant as I expected since it’s named for a flower, but that didn’t bother me. The volume was neither too thick nor too thin, and it seemed to settle nicely into my skin. I massaged the oil in in short circular motions around my cheeks and forehead, and used the fingernail of my index finger to rub the oil into my lash line and lashes. A tiny tinge of oil seeped into my eye causing mild discomfort. Nothing too bad, definitely not like getting shampoo in my eyes or anything like that.
I left it on for a few minutes before wiping it all off with a wash cloth dampened with hot water. Everything came off smoothly. The oil helped to make my eyelashes supple, so the mascara came off without finding a bunch of little eyelash casualties in the sink. And my skin felt hydrated and dewy—a definite plus. I didn’t follow it up with an additional cleanser, but my skin still felt fresh and clean.
Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil in My Skincare Routine
I’m looking forward to seeing how this works when I have a full face of make-up, primer and all. In the meantime, this is definitely going to be a staple in my skincare regimen. I plan on using it a couple of times a week, just to keep my skin soft. Plus, its performance around the eye area without any real stinging or burning in my eyes was outstanding.
The small bottle of Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is a perfect, travel-friendly size. It retails for $15.00 and is sold at specialty stores and online.
